A video game, like many other forms of media, can be divided into different genres based partly on the structure of the game and the goals of the game.
Games have often been enklerere to classify within certain genres because of constraints on different platforms and commercial pressures.
The most common genres today is the following:
* Platform game where you control a character to get from one place to another place (like jump) between the platforms and landscapes. Known platformer is Super Mario Bros.. and Prince of Persia.
* Role Playing Games (RPGs) are games where the main character (s) evolve in skills, attributes and by using equipment that will furnish the game. Known RPG series includes Final Fantasy, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Fallout, Diablo, MDK, Neverwinter Nights, The Elder Scrolls, Plan Escape: Torment, Deus Ex and Dungeon Siege. Newer games in this genre is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I and II and Jade Empire.
