Which Guitar Hero Game is Best for Beginners?
This has always been a difficult decision since Rock Band broke into the market, which game is right for you? This decision is becoming ever more harder because both game developers are releasing more and more games, so this post should help you decide which game is right for you.
Starting with Guitar Hero 2, this is the first music game to be released onto the next generation consoles. Although this one is a good game, it only has the guitar career available so this one is not recommended for a beginner. I would recommend this game if you are a fan of the classic songs like Free Bird.
This next one is available for the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3, Guitar Hero 3. Guitar Hero 3 is very similar to Guitar Hero 2 because it's a very good game, however, you can only play the guitar career. However, I believe that this game has the best song line up so this is a must have for a Guitar Hero fan.
The next couple are both band based games, Guitar Hero Aerosmith and Guitar Hero Metallica. Due to what I just said, these games are not great for beginners because you don't get a wide array of songs. Unless you are a fan of Guitar Hero and a fan of the band, I don't think they are worth buying.
Guitar Hero World Tour, now, this one was very popular because it was the first game to come with the full range of instruments, drums, guitar, mic and bass. However, I don't think that it comes with a good set list. It's crammed full of old cheesy songs that are terrible for solo play.
Now for the most recent Guitar Hero game, Guitar Hero Greatest Hits. In my opinion this game has to be the best for a beginner music game player or for a family game. I think this because the set list contains the best songs from Guitar Hero 1, 2, 3, 80’s and Aerosmith. This means that you get the greatest songs to play, plus you get to play them with the full range of instruments.
Now onto the likes of Rock Band, Guitar Hero's competitor. The first game, Rock Band 1, was extremely good because it had a great set list as well as the addition of the full range of instruments. The guitars that came with the game were pretty rubbish, but the game itself was very good. However, with the release of Rock Band 2, this is a much better game simply because it comes with an improved set list as well as some even better new features. Also, once you have Rock Band 2, you can buy Rock Band 1 and put all those tracks onto the Rock Band 2 game.
The big downside to Rock Band 2 in Europe is that you can't purchase the new drum set which comes with a range of added features like metal drum pedals. Note: The new instruments are being released in September with the release of The Beatles: Rock Band.
That's not all, Rock Band also benefits from a massive online library of tracks that you can download for the game. They have hundreds of songs that you can download, plus all of these work on any of the Rock Band games so you can always be growing you song list.
However, is Rock Band a good choice for beginners? I would personally say it isn't, however, it is the best game for an experienced player because it has such an expandable set list.
As for the best game for beginners, aslong as you get all the instruments to get the most out of the game, I would say Guitar Hero Greatest Hits is the best.
